some good informations here, I'm currently trying to train my dog (a Scottish Terrier) and I have to say it's way harder than what I was initially thinking. Any tips on how I could improve?

Never..never...never hit a dog. I found a touch at the side of the neck near the shoulder speaks volumes to the dog and does not injure him what so ever. This has worked for me with every dog I ever came in contact with (and that is alot of dogs) It imitates the nip momma dogs give there pups and is great to correct bad behavior.
